Mission & Vision

From its inception, the Refuge has been a place to shine the Light of Jesus to warn and guide God’s children! We acknowledge that we are NOT the light; but, as a lighthouse we will shine His love and truth to warn those in the dark, rough waters of life, alerting them to the hidden dangers of the world.  As a lighthouse guides ships into the protection of a harbor, so we will shine the light of Jesus to guide others to Him. 

The sword and Bible together represent the Word of God. Scripture will cut things from us that are negative and harmful, as well as prune healthy areas that God desires to multiply. To be a disciple of Christ is to be a student of His Word. Through careful, regular study we will learn about the God we serve, growing in likeness of Him and overcoming the lies of the enemy.

In the first covenant, the fire of God stood between God’s people and their enemies.  In the new covenant the dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit.  Both the fire and dove represent the presence of God Himself. We welcome God who desires to abide with us and dwell within His people.

The good news was never meant to be kept within the walls of the church building. The Refuge welcomes people in but also sends people out. As the body of Christ, we ALL are ministers of His gospel and will carry it to the whole world.
